Biography: Suburb
SuburbName: SubUrb, in reference to where he grew up.

History: Born in San Francisco, SubUrb grew up on the classic sounds of KBLX – 102.9 the Quiet Storm – which greatly contributed to his early production sensibilities of the smoother side of things. Classically trained in both clarinet and piano, SubUrb is a predominately sample-based producer who dabbles in the keyboard-based arts on occasion.

Collaborated With: Che Grand, Donwill, and Ilyas. Projects, tracks and miscellaneous nonsense soon come from Tiffany Walker, Noñameko, Ty, Vinia Mojica and A Brother Named George.

Influences: The usual underground suspects show up on his list, among them 88 keys, Jay Dee, Pete Rock, Hi-Tek, Madlib and Geology. Suburb also pays respect to Timbaland, The Neptunes, Dr. Dre, and Kanye West. But for the most part, you can catch the kid listening to Brazilian 1970’s funk, 1950’s rock and roll, African disco and UK Hip-Hop.

Tools: Fruity Loops 4.5, Cool Edit 2.0 and an ever-increasing stack of records. Oh, and Brazil too.
